my spare wheel wasn't locked for a week or 2 when i got the new alloys, the company who supplied them decided to be awkward with getting me 5 locking wheel nuts, finally got one, and also have a thick bicycle lock that you can't tell is there through one of the spokes... guess it works beacuse the rims are black

dont want to post openly how but the safety wheelnuts are a joke and can be overcome with 2 scrap parts if you don't want to risk scratches on the discs or even without any special tool if you dont care about it
if it took them 5 minutes they were amateurs/ non prepared or it took them 4.5 min to get the cap off the nutt as they forgot their pliers and it was raining. 
not making fun of all those that lost a wheel. If i ever see one even only pointing at my nuts my german shepherd has free play. good, and i mean GOOD, motorcycle chain/wire lock or modding your wheelcarrier so you can padlock the wheel with some brace. |

Yes -I've decided on the non standard chain/bike lock method.
However, also gone for a cheap black modular wheel with cheapest A/T tyre I could find to reduce the temptation. Sad to have to do this though isn't it. Astoundingly, the vehicle was in a public car park and 2 people came by whilst the crime was occurring and didn't 'seem' to notice! Richard Defender 90 SVX |

i use a high attack resistance cable lock too. But i did wonder whether one of the unused wheel stud holes could take a padlock with a very long mechanism (the U shaped bit) - so long as it was a high quality one. A hole drilled into the carrier at the right place could then be the other fixing point? Might be worth a look

That's a good thought
I needs some wheel nuts so might as well have some cheapo locking ones anyway. Add in the cable lock or padlock and possibly will be OK. Trouble is my Wheaten Terriers aren't that good as guard dogs but they do bark a lot though! Richard Defender 90 SVX |
